Today we are experiencing environmental degradation that cause problems like climate change, floods, global warming and shortage of potable water.eco friendly

Therefore, it is our responsibility to help protect the environment, and the solution starts right in our home.

Below are the techniques on how to do our share for the environment, by starting in our house, making our home eco-friendly, which also results in saving money.

1). Use less water. Saving water is important now, since many people in some countries have problems about water. The key is to conserve water.

2). Use less energy. Saving electricity is also a must, since usually the means to produce electricity are fossil fuels which are in limited and exhaustible supply. Saving energy includes buying energy-efficient appliances, walking for short trips, and using local products.

Buying  local products makes sense because it takes energy to transport food and other products across the country. Buying local not only supports your local economy, it helps the producers use less energy.

3). Reuse. Most of us know the three R’s of conservation: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. When it comes to reusing, there are many items around your home that can be reused. For example, toilet paper holders can be used to sow seeds for the vegetable patch. And old yogurt containers can be cut into strip to make plant labels. Old food jars can be refilled with homemade foods or can make great impromptu vases.

4). Use environmentally friendly products. Today there are now many environment-friendly products for sale, but oftentimes, they are expensive.

That’s why it is economical to devise and make some of these products, which are inexpensive, natural, and safe. For example, vinegar is a great way to clean and disinfect glass and other surfaces. Need to remove stubborn stains? Just add some baking soda to your vinegar cleaner. Some quick searching online will lead you to hundreds of other natural safe home-made cleaning products.

We know that going green means better for the environment. But it is also better for you and me, for all of us. This includes conserving resources to help save the earth, and save money for us. And this starts in the home, in yours and mine.
